MTNL is giving trouble… 🙁
Facts are as follows:
I booked an CORDLESS Instrument with CLIP on phone in July 2004, they told me it will cost a rent of Rs 60 p.m. I said OK. This clearly implies, what I communicated was right, as they did say Rs 60.
After a week, the Linesman came with the instrument, which was a normal instrument with CLIP, which carried rent of Rs 25. But it was not that we had booked, so we returned him and never accepted the phone. Also gave him an application, and later sent an application to the concerned dept through Courier.
But even then, August bill charged us Rs 78, the rent(+taxes), rent for three months for the CLIP instrument.
That was never installed at our place 😯
After that parents were in US for two months, so I couldn’t do anything, as phone is in my Dad’s name.
Therefore, again we took up the issue with MTNL just recently…
They say… our records say, the Insturment was installed at your residence, so give an application for cancellation of the said agreement. Then he adds, you will have to give back the instument also 😆
WOW! we will have to return the instrument, that we don’t have 😳
Maybe they want us to buy them a new instrument from the market 😕
The only solution that I see is… sue them in a consumer court 😛
The issue is not the money but the unnecessary botheration, they daily cause to so many customers due to their own inefficient policies…
Here the MTNL could have made justice with a little decent procedure, what they do is first they enter in their records that Instrument is beng installed at some place, i.e at the time of issue of the instrument from the department. Whereas, it must be like, after the phone is installed at the place of the customer and the acknowledgement received from the customer, then they should make an entry in their records of installation. Which is a fair procedure!
In any case, what I communicated was perfectly right over the phone, as they did say Rs 60 as rent, which is only for cordless instrumenmt with CLIP. But they don’t admit that some mistake happen at their end… as their job is secured.
The other Unfair Practice that they are carrying on is they are charging us for Plan 280 , which no more exists and providing the facility of Plan 250. That is unnecessary charging Rs 30 extra as rent every month.
