MTNL is giving trouble… ๐
Facts are as follows:
I booked an CORDLESS Instrument with CLIP on phone in July 2004, they told me it will cost a rent of Rs 60 p.m. I said OK. This clearly implies, what I communicated was right, as they did say Rs 60.
After a week, the Linesman came with the instrument, which was a normal instrument with CLIP, which carried rent of Rs 25. But it was not that we had booked, so we returned him and never accepted the phone. Also gave him an application, and later sent an application to the concerned dept through Courier.
But even then, August bill charged us Rs 78, the rent(+taxes), rent for three months for the CLIP instrument.
That was never installed at our place ๐ฏ
After that parents were in US for two months, so I couldn’t do anything, as phone is in my Dad’s name.
Therefore, again we took up the issue with MTNL just recently…
They say… our records say, the Insturment was installed at your residence, so give an application for cancellation of the said agreement. Then he adds, you will have to give back the instument also ๐
WOW! we will have to return the instrument, that we don’t have ๐ณ
Maybe they want us to buy them a new instrument from the market ๐
The only solution that I see is… sue them in a consumer court ๐
The issue is not the money but the unnecessary botheration, they daily cause to so many customers due to their own inefficient policies…
Here the MTNL could have made justice with a little decent procedure, what they do is first they enter in their records that Instrument is beng installed at some place, i.e at the time of issue of the instrument from the department. Whereas, it must be like, after the phone is installed at the place of the customer and the acknowledgement received from the customer, then they should make an entry in their records of installation. Which is a fair procedure!
In any case, what I communicated was perfectly right over the phone, as they did say Rs 60 as rent, which is only for cordless instrumenmt with CLIP. But they don’t admit that some mistake happen at their end… as their job is secured.
The other Unfair Practice that they are carrying on is they are charging us for Plan 280 , which no more exists and providing the facility of Plan 250. That is unnecessary charging Rs 30 extra as rent every month.

I had applied for MTNL broadband connection in the month of Dec. on 19th
Dec.2006 it was installed at my home at tf. 26169721. It showed 146 MB used at the time of installation.Uusing for 10 days I got the internet connection disconnection. Because it showed 704 MB use in 10 days only by surfing not by downloading and uploading anything from the site. I got it disconnected on 28th of Dec. I wrote letter to MTNL officers but they say that we have not received any ltr and on 11th Jan 07 it got disconnected by MTNL. I have all the ltrs. under receipt. They have charged me the 704 rs. I asked them that how r u charging Rs.22.75 from 01.01.07to 11.01.07 when I had already got it disconnected on 28th Dec 06. Letter already written to TRAI also and RTI also TRAI has asked MTNL to clarify but two months have passed with no results. RTI officer is sitting at K.L. Bhawan Janpath New Delhi he has also not given properly reply. I want the reimbursement of 146MB which was not used by me it was MTNL fault I met with all officers of MTNL but of no use. I met the GM (BB) also and asked them as to how it happen that at installation time it showed 146 MB nobody came at my residence to check and now they are not anwering.

i too had the same problem as mentioned above by Chandeer Bhushan with my AIRTEL net connection………they said night surfing was free and that cwas the time i used my net.But the in the bill they mentioned amounts like 740 mbs for just surfing and that too for 2hours while my net speed was 256 kbps one……..dont know when the situation is going to improve
