Configuring wireless router has proved to be the toughest job. Bought Netgear wireless router few months back… there have been lot of problem so had to stop using it but again tried configuring it… a frustrating experience, though atlast did it after spending a complete day 😕

But why not a wireless device is made available as a plug and play device… why so many stupid settngs 😛

You’re back 🙂 Never configure the wireless, is it harder than cable ones? I am thinking to have one at my home ….

Usually setting up a wireless router is very simple.
The issue might have been because you moved the router. Next time you have to do so, simply reset the router to factory default settings, by pressing the small button (with a needle etc) and you will be fine.

Hi Mona, wireless has its own advantages too, so should surely use it. Ya configuration takes time… and someimes creates unecessary complications!

@ Aman – ya I moved the router from office to home and did reset it also. But used to get stuck at the stage where the internet connection is to be recognized through router.

Finally got some tips through some forums and managed to change the IP for router & also settings for detecting computer’s MAC address, only then it worked fine 🙂

I think you are stuck exactly with the same thing, where I was… so follow the following steps:

    1. Reset the NetGear Router.
    2. Restart the computer, do not attach Modem.
    3. Open Port 192.168.1.1, change the Router IP to 192.168.2.1
    4. And change another option which will make router pick up computers MAC address.
    5. If the port does not open through IE, try through FireFox.

This is how mine was fixed, though I kept on trying through the setup before and it never recognized my Modem!

    Dear sir,
I got your profile from Orcut. I’m a freelance web designer. I’m working on a Dating website now-a-days but ‘m interested to know what all cyber laws restrict in dating websites. I mean suppose any of user uploads / puts indescent photos / pictures on website will it effect the owner of website. ( I mean can I allow users to upload any sort of photos on the website) or have to restrict them in that respect.
Moreover as Indian Cyber Law scence what problems I’ may face.
I’ll be thankful if you reply and solve out my problem.
    With Regards

The steps provided in setup guide are well enough… reset the router… and try again!

Though I had change the IP of Netgear, so that I am able to access both the routers setup…

Though it is not necesary to do that way… better reset the router!
