SIFY… going good!

4/6/2005 By Blogger 33 Comments

SIFY not appearing… though had a last chance… but they missed out that too!

In the next hearing that will be on May 9… they want me to provide summary of the matter in maximum of 1-2 pages. So I request all the SIFY BroadBand unhappy customers… to make a list of points in your own way, that need to be not only simple… self explanatory but convincing that points to the deficiency in services rendered by SIFY Broadband… so that Unfair Trade Practices are clearly made out.

Come on people…. :highfive: We have one month to go !!!

P.S. Issues need to include all that existed in November 2004, and we are not concerned… if subsequestly SIFY has removed the word “Shared” from package details or any other changes they have made.

hey archer all the best good going :attack:

months ago hathway … changed its package all starting at 256 after TRAI order of broadband min 256… but all new package got data limit…

for sify need to be punished i mean they were offering package for 32 / 64/ speed which even sounds so pathetic…. :attack:

hey btw u use hathway right which package ? i been using 128 still coz unlimted data transfer this months hathway started 256 unlimited for same cost …but for this i would need to shell out money for modem ….

    Thanks Abhi & Puneet :highfive:

Puneet:!: Hathway is ofcourse better. But here they are still offering all kind of packages… 32/48/64.

I think ofcourse packages with a speed of 256 are good, but they are quite expensive as they have restricted download limit like 1 GB.

    I am using 48 KBps…
But need to be careful about their packages too… as they have divided the packages into two… “Web-Time” and “Unlimited”.

The prices they have dropped relate to Web-Time packages only… which is a kind of shared package.
Though good speed is maintained… and is not as bad as SIFY.

What SIFY is doing… they dont even provide sahred package, they maintain log of customers, in which some kind of balance goes on reducing. And accordingly, restrict the speed of the customers to 16 KBps.

Hi Nikhil, first tell me… where you stay?
Here the case is almost over, though if anyone can come and speak against SIFY… that will surely work against SIFY and we will be able enforce all the reliefs against SIFY.

In any case, you can file case against SIFY in your nearest consumer forum. That will be great!
Because the need of the time is… to attack :attack: SIFY as many times possible… so that they never ever dream of cheating the customers again :thumb:

    Hi,
I just complained to Sify :attack: and then hit on your page, Now I realise that I’m just seeing the tip of an iceberg…. Anyways, the same complaint is attached below. Will keep you posted.
    :stirthepot:

    Hi,
I am a Sify broadband customer for the past six months and am disgusted with the service I have been suffering. After every renewal, the cable operator(Sunitha Enterprises, Malleswaram, Bangalore) disconnects my connection and does not reconnect for weeks together inspite of repeated calls, both to SIFY call center and the CTO’s office.
The last time this happened – more than a month ago, the call centre replied that we do not have the cable operators number!! I went personally to his office, where the responsible person was conviniently absent, not ready to even take our calls, leave aside look into the complaint. The reason he gave was that the intermediate hub was turned off. The treatment meted out bordered on abusive, to say the least.
After a lot of calls to sify and supplying them with the CTO’s number, the connection then started working for a couple days only to stop again. With the indications of the lights on the hubs, it seems to be the same flimsy excuse.
But why have I, a paying customer, to be held ransom at the hands of this errant exploitative CTO again and again? If he is incapable of providing service, he should communicate the SIFY. With the reputation Sify enjoys in the market, it is not expected treat it’s customers like the common cable mafia.
Why has my life turned like the drought striken farmer’s who wait each day for the rain? I need internet connnection to communicate with my family from the comfort of my home, all of us living alone in different places around the globe; and this lousy service has seriously hampered me from keeping in touch. Are the higher Gods in SIFY listening?? Or can you just spell out the other alternative.
    No Thanks,

Nikhil, first of all this point is illogical… as Sushubh has already mentioned at his website. They think customers are fools. No Internet Service Provider has any such stupid terms.

And in any case… do note down this point and include in your case… they say they have mentioned as part of the disclaimer and not included in their “Terms and Condtition.” Keep the copy of the email in original form and produce a print out in the court.

    I will email you tomorrow:!:

Sharath:!: there is only one solution, i.e. filing a complaint against SIFY & CTO at the nearest consumer forum.

I will email you about details of another SIFY customer at Bangalore Mr Akhil, who planned to file the case 2-3 months back, so you can join him to get immediate relief.

Its really SHAME on SIFY BroadBand of behaving in such manner with the customers. The confession of SIFY Broadband was the correct interpretation… they just care about new connection and they don’t bother about existing customer.

Here is the final Decision… against SIFY BroadBand…

“It has been held that concealing hidden condition and not redressing the grievances of the complainant who made complaints with regard to poor customer service on number of occassions, in our considered opinion, amounts to deficiency in service on the part of Opposite Party and indulging in to Unfair Trade Practice.

We, therefore, direct the opposite party to refund the amount of Rs 1,200/-, paid for two months by the complainant along with compensation to the tune of Rs 5,000/- for causing mental agony and harassment to the complainant and further, pay a sum of Rs 2,000/- towards cost of litigation to the complainant.”

The order makes the mention of following hidden conditions before the above para:

    1. Reduction of speed to 14 Kbps after a download of 750 MB of data in the month (2004)

    2. If the customer downloads more than 150 MB in a day, he is penalized in the form of reduction of package by one day (2005)

“Both the above conditions are not brought to the notice of the customer at the time of entering in to the contract.”

    Further…

“Court has also held that Opposite Party has failed to provide minimum speed of 256 Kbps as per the definition of BroadBand as laid down by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India….”

Though I never claimed that explicitly… but the whole case has been interpreted from this point of view by Hornorable court. That implies that not complying with TRAI definition also resulted in ‘deficiency in service’.

So this becomes a landmark judgement !

    Hi,

I am pramod staying at Navi Mumbai. Two months back I have paid installation money of Rs.1500 with the promise that I will get connection before next day 10:00 am. I was in urgency of getting net connected so I have paid him money & filled installation form. Sify sent me user ID within next 8 hours. The next day guy has not shown up & tried to contact him over the phone nos given by him, both the nos found switched off. I tried to contact Sify customer care over the phone & lost huge money calling them everyday because everytime I called the new person used talk me & I used to repeat the full episode. The call used end with promise. I tried to contact sify Customer care by email & they replied me that my society not given them permission to enter in our campus (no body contacted me over this from sify or agent before I ask). Currently I am working outside India & I can not be in touch with them over the phone, hence left writing them emails. Before my departure (32 days back) from India I have arranged required permission letter from my society. Just waiting for Sify to come back on this. Now a days even Sify customer care is not replying to my emails.

I need contact details of top levels of Sify so that I can contact them to get solution.
