As you all know the first hearing against SIFY is coming up on 19th Jan
I have included a clause under compensation, which states that anyone who has complaint against SIFY and joins later in the case, must be compensated by SIFY.
Few of the persons have shown interest in sending their complaints in writing to me, including the compensation they want to claim. If any other person is interested, let me know your email ID I will get in touch and email you my contact details.
Though basically in the first hearing the procedure will be that I’ll have to make out the complaint plus both the parties, i.e. SIFY and CTO, will submit reply to the 30 page notice they have received.
Then again I will have opportunity in the next hearing to submit more Masala as a counter-reply and provide the complaint & related matters on a affidavit, then there will be a little argument in the end and finally the case will be decided on merits, most probably in the fourth hearing.
It will take around 6 months for the case to be decided :thumb:

I am having this connection from say 4-5 months and am terribly pissed off with its services
The first Question i think why is it called BROADBAND?? Tats 256Kbps acc to TRAI tats bullshit
And Day before yesterday my account had to expire on 2nd November and yesterday it was showing 26th
I called Sify Customer care and they were making all kinds of excuses u crossed 150 mb and 25 mb 1 day blah
I told them that i am aware of the unlimited period ie.,10 pm to 8 am and i downloaded everything in that period of time
The then started with the session details i said Fuck u , ur system is screwed up
Then they told me to contact on their email and its just sending an autoreply as usual!

ok i m aniket bhatkar from cbd(belapur)i have take a 64kb connection frm sify 3 to 4 months ago,this month a sify guy came to take money for renewal my mom paid the money at 1st feb 2006 and the sify guy came again on 9th feb 2006 and took money frm me i was not knowing that my mom has paid the money, and he the next mornig i saw that the receipt he gave me was not on my name. it was on the name of someone zarina, i told this to sify help centre they were not ready to give any answer so i think sify i a really bitch and i m gonna hack the server of sify too badly nad breakdown it for nearly a week by some attacks bye guys

1.) I got my connection more than 1 month after i paid for the connection
Their excuse was they were not able to locate or contact the CTC for my
location..rains etc! But they could encash my check immediatly. I would
atleast have spent on 40-50, 5 minuite telephone calls. and by the time i
got my connection my vaccations got over.
2.) when the connection is supposed to be 24 hrs they take the liberty to shut it down for 5-6 hours at a time 1 hour is just excusable once in a while and throught the night they switch off the connection. Enjoy unlimited no access at nights. In spite of complaining i have never got a single compensation so far. They could automatically reduce my validity days (on exceeding 150 mb )but can not compensate for lack of service.
today as i write i have gone through 3 days with no connection in the night and evening i decided to call ( it costs me 10 bucks to get through the auto voice reply). After a patient talk ( i have been cool through 3 days) all i got
for a reply when i told him about complaining in the consumer court
” do what ever u what,” go ahead with it “w’ll see what happens ” though he said only the inner quote, he repeated it and with a tone that meant the whole quote.
3.) if there is are different usage slots should’nt they show the usage seperately ie 10 pm to 8 am.
4.) The service creeps never show up if i complain… and they consider
u having logged in for a day even if u have loged in for a minute….that’s what they tell u when u ask for compensation for lack of connectivity for the whole day. But if connectivity fails for the evening and is rectified the next morning they are supposed to compensate for two days. They will do for neither because u could have logged in on those days.
i just downloaded easysify2 and am going to use it so that they can not just disconnect the connection at 12 in the night and my computer keeps running the whole night but i am sure it is not just auto log off but that they physically disconnect the line or switch off servers.
what i would like to see implemented
1.) Toll free customer care number…
2.) decent staff, and service people who can make out the mouse from a keyboard.
3.) a client that shows detailed and real time usage statistics also logs any failure for compensation.
sify’s ethernet idea is great i agree
i think the installation charge is exorbidant…the usage charges are exorbident…but let be but new technology comes with responsibility and is not an excuse…
i thought i was the only cheated customer…today morning i was so angry that i could have…#@$%^& the guy in the customer care.

I am in New Bombay and I face exactly the same problems as you.
1) Frequent disconnections that last from 5 hours to a few days.
2) No compensation for the time I have been disconnected. Moreover like you said, even if you can only connect for one minute and transfer only 0.01 kb in a day, it is counted as full. Additionally, there appears to be a flaw in their logs.. because once I was disconected for a full 7 days due to a switch failure (as I was told). However the logs show 0.01 kb of data transmitted daily during that time..And yes you guessed it. no compensation.
3) No compensation is given for disconnections at night time during which the unlimited download limit actually applies. In fact this has become so frequent that out of 30 days, I am only able to use the net after 8pm at night for about 3 days. It never resumes before 10 am the next day
4) They are always ready to cut down your validity with the crap 150 mb limit. This plan of 150 mb limit is totally worthless
5) It is impossible to get the cable operator customer service. It is next to imppossible to get the Sify customer service.
6) They have registered the mac address so if I change the ethernet card or connect using my laptop, it gives me an error. Why the fuck do they have this bullshit if they require password for logging in?? I dont get the fucking point of mac address filtering if they use the username and password to authenticate.
What I demand.
1) Make sure the net is up is 24/7. Downtime of more than 5% is not acceptable.
2) Compensate me and others for this harrasment. A suitable compensation is free Internet for six months.
3) Remove this 150 mb limit or ensure that my net never goes down at night time when the limit does not apply.
4) Remove the name “Broadband” from their service
5) Remove the advertisement and the IE popups. This is not a free service so that we have to watch their ads
6) Remove the fucking broadband client. It is pathetic.
7) Remove the MAC address filtering. It is really even more pathetic.
