The worst services are provided by ICICI Bank and other private Banks. They are just interested in opening of new Bank accounts, and charging customers for unreasonable things. As Puneet also mentioned the charges are no-where provided, but at the opening of the account, they get terms and conditions signed which includes very wide terms. Which cannot be challenged later.
– The issue of Credit -Cards have already been issued before. Last year, I also received ICICI Add-On Card without any demand being made.
– Charge double for a Demand Draft. ICICI Bank charges Rs 55/- minimum. While nationalized banks charge around Rs 20-30 only.
– Charge Rs 220/- for a bounce cheque, while a nationalized bank will charge you Rs 100/-
– Graduates are appointed as agents, and employees on contract basis, who doesn’t even know ABC of Banking. While nationalized banks appoint probationary officers through proper tests.
– These young employees don’t know, what are the formalities required, which causes lot of inconviniece to cutomers. Last week, for simple formality, I have to visit ICICI Bank Branch thrice. One employee says one thing , other gives a different version.
– I demanded one cheque book and ICICI Bank issued two and charged for both.
– Moreover, ICICI Bank charges for closing of account. Rs 500 are charged, if you close Current account and also for savings account. No Nationalized bank charges for closing of account.
– Paid for rechage of Hutch card on ICICIBank.com, but they did not re-charge but I recharged in time from market, otherwise would have lost the balance of Rs 1,000.
– They have just call center for complaints, who are trained in giving excuses. And everytime give the same reply, whatever you ask them.
– Moreover, ICICI bank Call center never provide Phone number of Branches ???
– Private Bank Depositories are still charging yearly maintainence charges but according to the SEBI guidelines, no Depository can charge any shareholder… any charges in the name of maintainence.
It’s really high time, that we stop using services of Private Banks like ICICI Bank and shift to nationalized Bank. When the services provided by Nationalized Banks are equally good !!!

Ankur I had another horrible incident when I had gone to open back account at HDFC bank they have a scheme mentioned which doesn’t exist and I had horrible time coz the person didn’t even knew if such a thing is there at their bank :laugh:

Really agents very often indulge in such practices… make mis-statements, as they are just interested in opening of bank accounts at any cost, so that they can have their share of commission :banghead:

well… they have the most number of ATMs around and their online banking actually works. my only problem with ICICI Bank is that they do not support Opera Browser. Otherwise they are the best of the lot. HDFC is the worst. I would never go to a nationalised bank unless the people their realise that they are serving us and not the vice versa.

I fully agree and can understand the plight of people who have had bad experience with ICICI Bank, as I am also a victim. ICICI Bank is just a bunch of people who want to somehow make customers and then they do not care if the customer issues are resolved or not. I have several issues with ICICI Bank – many of them make me conclude that they are highly unethical in their business. I have wasted enough time in complaining at local branch in Jamshedpur and also written numerous emails to their customer care but they just do not do anything. It seems that They just don’t care.
And there is no way that you can gain access to their senior management, if you would like to escalate your problems to the company management. I think some day some one should take them to court and teach them a good lesson.
I would definitely like to use all possible forums to spread this message across so that people are aware that ICICI Bank cheats people and stay away from this Bank.

As myself a victim would like you all to warn as a well wisher about ICICI:
1. ICICI Bank
Had opened an account. The major difference I found between our standard national banks and this bank is ICICI Bank started debiting my account just for anything. For instance, if they are a Depository Participant, is it our mistake? They started debiting demat service charges, and their credit card charges. I stopped transacting in this bank account.
My advice is check your bank statement very very carefully. This pain you have to take as long as you are having account with them.
2. ICICI Credit Card
I was forced this card as free annual charges. I thought they have given facility to view bill statements on the net. They said once you open this mail and view your statement, the due is that day. The late payment starts. To top it, they started debiting my ICICI bank account without any permission. I cancelled my card after spending atleast Rs. 350 on phone-calls and time on e-mails.
My advice is: If you have an account with ICICI Bank avoid possessing ICICI credit card. If you cant avoid then, do not opt auto-debiting to your account. Best is get rid of both.
3. ICICI Home Loan
I initially opted for flexi-interest plan. Still they said if you really want to reduce interest as per PLR I have to pay extra. I paid around Rs.6000 to activate it. They said I will get covered under Personal Accident Insurance. There is no written communication or certificate provided to this effect. SBI has provided me with a certificate of insurance as they promised. I bet SBI is really a reliable and prominent bank.
Recently I made a pre-payment of huge amount against loan. ICICI cannot give credit to loan-holder on the same day as the amount is paid. Citizens tend to pay off the amount as there is always a tendency to spend. ICICI – claiming themselves as big financial institution – wants to enjoy the interest on customer’s money at their own will – thanks to their system.
My advice here is: If you have taken loan from them, insist on Personal Insurance certificate. Secondly clarify why they want to add spouse’s name (though she is housewife). They may create nuisance in the event of bread-winner (earning member)’s death. Where the housewife will go if she is forced to pay the balance amount inspite of insurance promise by ICICI. Secondly, ask for account and EMI statements every quarter. DO NOT belive them/their system at all ( as they also do not believe ).
And finally do send this beware message to all your friends and family members ….
The letter I of ICICI is for Irritance Irritance Irritance in whichever way you read.

Stay away from ICICI. We recently transferred a significant deposit to India to buy a house in India. ICICI just rejected cheques written by us stating signature mismatch. They asked us to send a letter issued by a local bank to verify signature. In spite of this the cheques were rejected again.
Customer representatives cannot give us a reason for the last 2 weeks as to why the cheques were rejected. As a result our builder has been slapped with a Rs 5000 fine. We have to take a demand draft from ICICI, for which ICICI happily charges us.
Best part is inspite of promising a 2 day time to issue the demand draft, the DD has not yet been issued. It takes about a week.

All that ICICI wants to do is hold on to your deposits and make you pay for every Rupee you want to withdraw from your account. I would recommend banking with a Nationalised Bank.

Avoid ICICI Bank. It is not a bank. It is a bunch of day-light robbers!
I had the misfortune of opening a Savings account with ICICI, because their agent was after me day and night. I realised their auto-invest plan was so much junk on the first day itself. they automatically carry off any balance in excess of Rs.5000 to a Fixed Deposit. Great!You can withdraw it anyday you want- they say. What they don’t tell you is that if you happen to withdraw the amount even a single day before 1 year,( on first in first out basis!) you will lose the entire interest, gyping you out of even the mandatory SB interest!
I opened the savings account One year back on a so called special offer of minimum balance of Rs.2000. Any nationalised bank would have given you interest on that amount at SB rate and the money would have grown. But within one year ICICI charged a service charge(for a non-existent service) Of Rs 800+800+200 and now my balance shows Rs.158, without withdrawing a single paise! I guess next quarter they will charge another 800 service charge and come knocking at my door to remit the dues!
If you don’t call this a robbery, I don’t know what else is!

I was pinched by IDBI Bank. The Bank, without informing me, raised the minimum balance required to be kept in savings account, failing which, a customer had to pay some charges. Since my balance had gone below the required amount, the Bank then kept on waiting for another deposit by me and cooly deducted the charges for the past three years. Incidently, i could not do any transaction in the bank for this period of time. But in the meantime, the Bank did not even send me the monthly statments, as other private banks regularly do.
Kindly tell me,where can I represent for these charges?

I get DD from my broker.
But when I put in clearing , bank put stop payment . when I contact broker he stop payment on basis of lost.
But DD was account payee and in my name and deposied in my account . then How can bank stop payment my DD .

With due respect to you reagarding my HDFC Credit Card Loan No. 4346 7700 00070 6748 in this connection my one cheque 029657 dated 22.09.2009 of Rs 1988 was return reason differ in word & figure and that was duly revesed by the bank and for Oct to Dec EMI II am paying regularly that are on time .
Since I am requesting bank reversal of of wrong charges of Rs 1600 raised to me is wrong & they say tis is our system gerated anf reversal in not possible.
