‘National Protection Court Authority’ – Speedy Rememdy to consumers

Government announced setting up of ‘National Protection Court Authority’, which will make speedy remedy to consumers possible. It will accept almost every kind of comsumer complaints, which can be against Telecom, Banks, Insurance, etc.

Main Features:

– Decision in 10 days.

– Quasi judicial Body.

– Based on the concept of Federal Trade Commission, USA.

– Can be appealed in Supreme Court only.

This is going to make business houses very careful. Though it is doubtful whether it will be possible to decide the matter in such a short period of time… as it will attract more consumers, who otherwise may not decide to appraoch an ordinary consumer court. 

…so when lakhs of cases are filed, how the cases will be decided in such a short period 😕 And in any case, parties require more time to file the reply in the ordinalry course!
