@nkur says
Thanks for the comments Knak, but tell me… in which country other than India, SIFY is available ❓
Though one thing is sure… more the testimonials, more will be the benefit. But I will need more particulars like your full name, address or atleast email ID. As some proof will be require in the court of law.
In any case, I will surely refer about Sushubh’s website, which in a way will cover all the Testimonials, and take some extracts from there too.

Sick Of SIFY says
hello everyone,
I got this connection for 3000/- for 6 months when SIFY hiked the per month rates(32+ shared range). There are no other internet providers in east delhi(AIRTEL doesnt have the service here:banghead:) now I’m seriously thinking of downgrading my connection to the 128 KBPS night one dunno(if those thieves would allow)
P.S. For Archer Where do u live btw I live in dilshad garden
@nkur says
I am put up at Lawrence Road.
Hi Akhil,
These are really the issues everbody facing.
That’s why the case :smokin:
It will take few months time, for something to come out, as in the first hearing the SIFY will submit their counter statement and I will have to file a reply in the hearing after that. For that I will collect some testimonials in writing.
Let’s hope for the best :thumb:

:banghead::banghead::banghead: this is what i was left to when i took 1gb 32kbps so called dedicated pack ( shared nikla) , i was clipped to 1kb cos in 1 day i downloaded more then 70mb , ie i was clipped to 1KB for 25 days as my download exceeded 70mb just on 4th day of pack. this was not told to me, i had a big fight with manager on yahoo messenger , then on phone , he assured me compensation , still awaiting it , ANKUR PLZ ADD MY NAME TOO. ( this happened abt march 2004)
Prashant(¤H룣 R@î§Ë®¤) says
Ok here are a list of a few more unfair things sify is doing i hope it helps:thumb: but anyways
These are my:attack:Ten Commandments:attack:
1)Blocking of P2p Clients(I can’t get any of my p2p clients workin on sify…coincidence?i think not)
2)the stupid sify page that loads up everytime you login
3)the mcafee antivirus shit(which isnt an antivirus btw but a resident scanner)
4)Not keeping up with TRAI standards to call itself broadband
5)What the hell do they mean by shared package???
6)THe 75MB hidden limit which they don’t mention in the pack details
7)I think they are monitoring their user dwnloads and since i download 24/7 i think they purposely keep my net down for a long period(I hope this is a valid pt)
8)Broadband is supposed to keep u connected 24/7 then how come i get disconnected so frequently
9)I think they are also blocking download managers because gozilla isnt working on my comp
10)can i think of this one later and get back 2 u?
Prashant(¤H룣 R@î§Ë®¤) says
oh sorry but btw i wasnt saying i have 10 pages of stuff i meant that im glad you have got a case goin and 10 pages is really gonna tick them off

Hi Ankur
I purchased sify two month unlimited pack from the website in the month of December. After two days, I received a letter from my local operator which stated that I have to pay Rs 100/- per month for the maintenance purpose. I opposed this because this was intimated to me after I bought the package. I’m sure if I had intimated earlier then I could have opted for some other package and save my money. But I assured my operator that I’ll pay maintenance charge to him when I renew next time.
In the month of Jan, I faced a problem in my LAN cable. Surprisingly water was coming out of it and my LAN card and motherboard of my laptop was damaged. Water problem was noticed by local operator technical person and I ask them to replace the cable but my operator said that they will not replace because I’m not paying the maintenance charges to him. So I made my own arrangement to stop water coming down to my machine.
In the month of Feb, I renewed the 2 month unlimited package and I was agree to pay Rs 200 to my operator (I haven’t received any good maintenance from him for thes months), but he insist me to pay Rs 400. I continuously explained my problem to Sify Chandigarh and local operator and I told them that I’m ready to pay Rs 200 because now I know your rules and therefore I opted for different cost package. But my operator refused to take money and he come down to Rs 300. Well here I just want to tell you that I’m not doing any bargain on this or ask for discount, I just want to get my rights on it. I suffered a lot due to their negligence and unsupported attitude from sify chandigarh and local operator.
If Sify and local operator has a differences in packages cost then either Sify should take out the package list from the sify website so that no user will be able to purchase it from website or give full control to local operator to sell your products.
Ankur, What do you suggest me to do now?
Nischal Pathania
Ankur says
In the name of Maintainence Charges, the are really being Unfair. Further, the water from LAN cable 😯 it is indeed deficiency in service.
If you can take some time out… then I will suggest filing a case against LCO and in case, SIFY also is responsible in any way, then make both of them the opposite parties.
I don’t think there will be any other solution, because these people don’t understand normal language.
Just find out the nearest consumer forum and file the complaint on plain paper (preferably typed) in triplicate for Judges plus additionally must be accompanied by as number of copies as the number of opposite parties i.e. in case you decide to file case against both SIFY and LCO, then total of 5 copies will be filed.
Also point out as many things that have already been pointed out against SIFY here and at Sushubh’s website.
Claim the cost of MotherBoard as comensation
+ the amount paid to them,
+ Compensation for Mental Agony and Harassment,
+ Expenses of the case.
Good Luck !!! :thumb:

:banghead:
We had taken two Sify Broadband connections under the Unlimited Range Plan in the beginning of March 2005. The connections were taken under the usernames “citicap” and “citibazaar”. We had paid for the 6 months packages for both the plans alongwith the installation charges. The local service provider was Krishna Services, Delhi. However from day one the connections were slow and always dropping. The connections given were through loacl lan causing lot of virus issues as well. As we were not satisfied with the connection and the services we had asked SIFY to terminate the connections with immediate effect i.e. March 2005.
We have sent numerous mails for the last couple of months but our complaint has neither been heard nor has any one bothered to revert / communicate with us.
We only want our full refund of the internet connection charges after and the installation charges immediately.
Hope this forum will help us get or money back and warn other users from never using SIFY.
Ravinder says
 thanks for an early intimation buddy! I was just about to spend my hard earn money for these plans. but after going through your frustration, I believe I should look for some other providers as I don’t want to regret later……! Thanks and best of luck
Ankur says
Mr Ashish:!: If possible, try to file a complaint at the nearest Consumer Forum. There is no other solution to SIFY Problems. Good Luck :thumb:
Mr Ravinder:!: Good Decision 🙂
The aim of SIFY’s 6 month plan was to make customers stuck with their poor services 😛
Kavita says
good work, I was tired of sify broadband too and that is why I shifted to BSNL. Hope you are able to put some sense into them…
Ankur says
Thanks…
Let’s see what decision is received… though to make SIFY realize their mistakes… more action is required on behalf of other customers, as SIFY is a group of stubborn persons, who did not even bother to appear in the court 🙄
G S R Murthy says
The customer care is hopeless. I took a 6-month 256 kbps connection and I was promised minimum down load speed of 24 kbps. Invariably the speed drops to 3 to 7 kbps. I complained at least 20 times and every time they say there will rectify and call back. I have never received a call back from them. The situation is hopeless.

This is really shocking… such a slow speed even for a package of 256 KBps 😯
This RubberBand company won’t understand ever… what is real BroadBand 😛
Some persons have already approached CNBC uncovered and the channel will take SIFY issue seriously, if more and more complaints are received.
Therefore, everybody email your complaints against SIFY to uncovered@moneycontrol.com
TRAI says: “If operators don’t meet the quality parameters, we will prosecute them and that includes directing the licensor (government) to impose a penalty on the defaulter, (06 July 2005)
This means… time to complain against SIFY BroadBand to TRAI too … :thumb:

I have the D256 package, and I don’t pay a paisa to any CTO. I renew my subscription directly through SifyMall. Recently my CTO decided to act smart and disconnected me. Predictably, Sify sided with the CTO. I lodged an FIR against the CTO in the local police station and sent a pre-litigation notice to Sify by email. My connection was restored faster than you can imagine, and I suspect that now I get much service than you guys do.
Guys you got to get organized and stand up for your rights. You should be willing to spend some time on this and money, not only for your own sake, but for the sake of improving the general state-of-affairs we are forced to live with. Things are so bad for all of us only because we tolerate anything and everything. Don’t crib, stand up for your rights, and fight back collectively.

hahahahahah this must be really a joke.. they have a 75 MB download limit per day??
I am on 128 kbps broadband.. I dont think, even if I keep the computer running all day, downloading at full speed, I will be able to reach 75 MB with the speed and disruptions I get.
Anasuya Iyer says
WAY TO GO BUDDY!! its about time someone did this…now they have a limit of 150MB download per day and for every violation no matter how miniscule, they reduce one day from the validity period…fucking bullshit…i got to know this only when I had like 15 days reduced from mine…bloody fuckers..!! 🙁
Amit says
I tried to use the connection from my laptop.. I get the error “Error, the computer is different from the one registered with us. Call customer support”
What kind of BS is this?? you cannot even change the computer without getting a new connection..Those dogs must be sued.. I am with you archer.. SIFY really sucks..

Hi,
I need you help and guidance.
Unfortunately one day 8 th june i decided to go for sify broadband
connection and i called up Mr Anop who is actively involved in my area
and gave him the required amount for installation and one month
rental(500+567) and till date there is no connection at my place. I
called up customercare on 15 and my ticket number is 3562105 and acc to
them somebody from sify would contact me within 12 hrs but its more than
24 hrs nobody from sify contacted me. Even i send few mails to
customercare@sify.com and my tracking number 1815950 but till date i
haven’t got any reply from them. I don’t no what to do. Can you pls
suggest me what could i do to get my money back.
Mukund Agarwal says
Guys I have the same problem as you have.
I also tried to connect my notebook and it gave me that registration crap.
Also why the hell the sify program force you to install the crazy antivirus. I mean its my choice to decide which antivirus package is best for me.
I am currently on 64kbps “unlimited†package. They should at least have he decency to tell you that they have a 150mb limit or better they should change the unlimited to 4.5gb usage. Also 15 days were reduced from my package because I downloaded a lot of stuff. Don’t they understand the fucking meaning of the word “unlimitedâ€. My network card has been fried once and as usual there network goes down during rain and lightning.
The recovery time is horrible.
I am currently writing this using BSNL dial up and I am really pissed off.
Guys is there anything better then sify?
Arun says
Its time we all got together and closed down those motherf****** called Sify. I am really disgusted with the Sify “unlimited” broadband connection. In fact, I don’t know where to begin describing my woes. but I will try anyway
1) The network goes down every day from 9pm to 9am giving me the error BB101 (Gateway unreachable). Contacting Sify is useless as they tell me that they will look into this matter tomorrow.. I know that tomorrow morning it will work anyway
2) I recently got disconnected for 5 days (22nd to 27th June) due to some “switch blown up at the cable provider” as I was told.. I should have been compensated for those 5 days but no.. I wasn’t
3) On 31st, I downloaded 226 MB of data and consequently I lost 4 days from my account. However when my dad got the connection, no body informed us about this limit. When we went to contact the cable provider, they said “you should be aware of the latest plans at all times, irrespective of whether we inform you or not”.. as if I have nothing better to do but to browse thru Sify’s rates all day
4) The cable provider (SSV cable in sector 14, Vashi) is completely useless. The owner says “We don’t provide 24 hour connectivity.. i.e. your net will not function for 24 hrs thats guaranteed.. moreover, we only provide service from 9 am to 6 pm…. If the net is down at night, its your problem.. you should call and complaint directly to Sify”
Well I did complain to sify, who as usual promised to look into this matter by tomorrow but nothing happened as expected
5) On 9th evening till 11th morning I was disconnected. I got the error BB108 (network cable disconnected). However, when I check my session details, It shows 0.01 mb of data transferred on 10th which is absurd.. When I complain to the cable provider (SSV cable), they tell me that their logs show that my IP address had sessions were on 10th and so they cannot compensate it for that day, even though another technician at the same office told us that they had done some software upgrades on 9-11th and that’s why the net was down.
What the hell is this..? I am on an unlimited plan where the limit is 150 mb/day. I have truly unlimited download from 10pm to 8 am but during that time the network is down EVERYDAY.. (see point 1 above), Additionally, the cable operator adamantly refuses to provide service during those hours..
Sify is very eager to cut a day for downloading more than 150 mb. However, they do not provide an extra day when the net is down to some switch blownup or software upgrade at the cable provider.. (See points 2, 3, 4 above) They somehow forge the records to show that we were connected even when we clearly were not. Now I keep a notebook next to my PC so I can pen down the exact time the net has been down.. I am eager to take those bastards to court.
The cable provider (SSV cable) is another thief.. who only cares about taking money from us and has never provided any service)
I didn’t realize that there is so much corruption even in private sector in India. Please guys, if we keep on tolerating this, India will never become a developed country. We must teach those guys the lesson that they deserve. We must go to consumer court or whatever higher authority that deals with this. I hope India will have real broadband connectivity some day.

dude, why did you go for Sify? Didn’t you check this blog or other sites.. There are thousands of dissatisfied customers of Sify.. This is the main problem.. people fall into their trap of advertising and once you give the money, its all gone.
I also tried one trick. When we dial Sify customercare, and want to complain, the lines are always busy and they tell to call back after 1 hour
However, if I select “New connection” option, I get instantly connected.
Really great huh ??

Archer says
Here is the final Decision… against SIFY BroadBand…
“It has been held that concealing hidden condition and not redressing the grievances of the complainant who made complaints with regard to poor customer service on number of occassions, in our considered opinion, amounts to deficiency in service on the part of Opposite Party and indulging in to Unfair Trade Practice.
We, therefore, direct the opposite party to refund the amount of Rs 1,200/-, paid for two months by the complainant along with compensation to the tune of Rs 5,000/- for causing mental agony and harassment to the complainant and further, pay a sum of Rs 2,000/- towards cost of litigation to the complainant.â€
The order makes the mention of following hidden conditions before the above para:
1. Reduction of speed to 14 Kbps after a download of 750 MB of data in the month (2004)
2. If the customer downloads more than 150 MB in a day, he is penalized in the form of reduction of package by one day (2005)
“Both the above conditions are not brought to the notice of the customer at the time of entering in to the contract.â€
Further…
“Court has also held that Opposite Party has failed to provide minimum speed of 256 Kbps as per the definition of BroadBand as laid down by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India….â€
Though I never claimed that explicitly… but the whole case has been interpreted from this point of view by Hornorable court. That implies that not complying with TRAI definition also resulted in ‘deficiency in service’.
So this becomes a landmark judgement !

i am also residing in vashi and facing the same problem. i have complained many times to sify about SSV cables there is no action from them.
LLewlyn Fernandes says
Renewal Problems
I am very surprised to see that a sify account renewal takes days to get activated. The online renewal service (cash payment option wherein the franchisee comes and collects the payment in a span of 3 days) does not work making the online renewal system useless. The customer service in the renewal section does not know what is happening and hence cannot service the person efficiently.
Sify being the largest Internet Service Provider in mumbai should be more efficient in renewal process as this problem occurs every time (had faced similar problems while renewing the last time) Sify should look into the matter on priority basis as this must be happening to other Sify home users also.
The franchisee in the end activates the Internet at around 10:00 pm 11:00 pm and the day then ends at 12:00 am which means 1 day just gets wasted and you get only 2 – 3 hours on the first day. Is this a strategy of sify?.

Respected Sir,
I was your regular customer and your local agents’ attitude towards services was not proper. So I thought why to not take approach directly to the company to pay my subscription fee for six month, which I paid through e-card in the month of January 2007. Suddenly to my surprise company stopped giving me services with ought my knowledge. I thought that there is network problem. I went on complaining continuously with the local customer care on 261 77460 for registering my complain. But they failed to reply why my connection was not working. When I got angry on one of them on phone. One of them confessed that local cable network person Sonu wants his share, which according to him I had not paid to him, had switch off the network connection. Sir, here I want to submit that if any how if the local area agent is so powerful to decide whether the connection is to be continued or not. If any how he is authorised by you to act like that. It means you have appointed GUNDAS (Unfortunately he is my neighbour every day he visits my place ten times a day, but never said that he is the culprit and wants money for his share)at local level to extort their share of money from your customers. If I had to pay the money to that your GUNDA for subscription then company is accepting such subscription by e-card. I think your dual policies are responsible for such complications in providing services to the customer. Why don’t to clarify on net that If You will pay by e-card you will be required to pay separately to your LOCAL GUNDAS for availing services. When I continuously argued at your customer care centre at Mumbai regarding this matter, I will told by your person, that we have taken our money, now it is local GUNDS’s turn to extract money from you. If you want you connection to be reconnected you have to approach that GUNDA (Sonu) will decide now to reconnect my connection or not. Here I want to say you that I haven’t paid money to that GUNDA (SONU, the local operator. I have paid money to you. You are responsible to provide me services for the charges I have paid to you. It is none of my business to approach to your local GUNDAS for paying them ransom to reconnect my connection. Why you not disclosed this fact on the net that If customers will pay directly to the company subscription for net services they will have to pay again to local GUNDAS again under different headings. Sir, If you want to run this company, you need to look very seriously in such matters and solve customer grievances by abolishing dual policies made by your company.
At last, I want to alarm, warn to you that If you will ignore this complain as your subordinates have done in past, you will invite more problems in this case. I have undergone and have studied the cases against your company. and also have downloaded judgments of the cases you lost in the court of law. I am studying cyber-laws and crimes. Very soon you will come to know that I have filed case against you in the consumer court. Further, as other customers who have successfully won cases against you in the court of laws, as they have written blogs against your company’s services. I will also join with such customers and launch campaign against such customer unfriendly policies. It was very terrific to know that local person want his share of money and has disconnected the connection. It was very shocking to know from your customer care.
Kindly do something in this matter, other wise face in the consumer court.
Hopet that you will do the needful and resume my net services.

Hi, this is really a very common problem with SIFY, even after paying off to the company, the connections are diconnected, even I know one senior criminal lawyer in Delhi, who is suffering the same for the past one month… and now planning for legal action !!!
What you can do is… obtain complaint number of every call you make to the SIFY customer case and as far as possible do corresspondence in writing… i.e. you need to collect as much as evidence and proof as possible.
And ofcourse you are on the right track… the only solution is to take the matter with consumer court and claim higher compensation for all the loss of Internet time… and related loss.
Good Luck !
